Okay folks, the 2003 ratings are in. All listed joints have been personally sampled by our impartial panel of judges (large unmarked bills please.) If you have a steak to rate, contact the judging committee: beefisgoooood@ignomini.com

The Hitching Post

Located on Hwy 246 in Buellton, CA, the Hitching Post is as good as it gets. Mesquite grilled filets to die for, substantial adult beverages and a strict ration on children. This is one of those places which doesn't look like much, but the cognoscenti all know where it is.

Red Barn

The formerly quaint village of Santa Ynez (now overrun by a fucking indian casino) plays host to this traditional small town watering hole and eatery. Its had a change of ownership and interior remodel, so its current rating may be out of date.

AJ Spurs

Just two doors down from the Hitching Post in Buellton, AJ's scores four steaks for the food, but loses a half in the final ratings because of kids. The place is a madhouse. Can't blame them though, the atmosphere attracts tourists like flies. A nice bar with live music on the weekends.

Natural Cafe

Well pump my stomach...if isn't one of those health food puke hoity toity restaurants. "Would you like some wheat grass with your sprouts?" Hell, my weed whacker could whip up a better salad. Blech!

Outback Steakhouse

Located all over the west (and maybe the east too), you can always count on a good consistent meal at Outback. Their Filets are surprisingly good. They have vegetables too, in case your "other half eats like a rabbit.

Maddy's Kitchen

Somewhere in the English midlands, near Far Forrest, or far from Near Forrest, on Twatwaddle Lane, nestled among the cows and chikens, is a little known eatery - Maddy's Kitchen. Seating is limited, the Maitre d' is unbalanced, but the food is second to none. Directions from London: Drive north, the east, then south, then north, then west, then northeast, then southwest, then just keep going until you fall off the map. You're almost there. Worth the drive though, best damn fillets on the planet.

The Beefetarian Credo:

If it walks on land its food. If it swims where it shits, its not food. Plants are for snails.
